Sustainability at the center

We want to limit our environmental impact and inspire our guests and partners to contribute to a more environmentally friendly approach.

Washable glasses

We partner with Rene Glass, where we use reusable glass that is collected, washed, and reused.

When purchasing beverages, a packaging fee of NOK 25 is charged on the first purchase. When the packaging is returned, the fee is not charged again on subsequent purchases of beverages. The fee covers the costs of collection, washing, and logistics. This is not a deposit.

This helps reduce the use of single-use packaging, which in turn minimizes the amount of waste and the environmental impact.

Service & Cutlery

We only use packaging and cutlery made from natural materials that are composted in the food waste.

By using packaging and cutlery made from biodegradable materials, we help reduce plastic pollution and lower our carbon footprint.

Waste Sorting

We sort most types of waste. Plastic, cardboard, residual waste, glass/cans and special waste.

Food waste and organic material is shredded and then heated to 72 degrees for 1 hour before being composted.

Recycling bins

Machinery

As far as possible, we only use electric trucks and lifts for all rigging in the arena. This provides a cleaner working environment without harmful exhaust fumes, lower noise levels and reduced operating costs.

Electric car charging

We have 10 electric car chargers in our parking areas to promote the use of environmentally friendly vehicles.

Social Sustainability

We are dedicated to working for mental health and to counteract division and exclusion. All people become stronger by feeling included and belonging to a community.

The arena collaborates with Mental Helse Ungdom and The Zuccarello Foundation in the work for mental health and inclusion. Together, we will make the arena experience accessible to more people, and spread knowledge and inspiration. In addition, funds will be raised for these two organizations.

Wristbands

We use sustainable wristbands with bamboo closures. These wristbandsare made from recycled PET, sourced from plastic bottles, and the closure contains 50% less plastic than other standard alternatives. With this choice, we aim to create memorable experiences without compromising the environment.

Miljøfyrtårn

We are proud to be Miljøfyrtårn certified - a visible proof of our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. The certification means that we work systematically to reduce our environmental footprint and create a greener arena.

Transportation to the arena

We encourage all our guests to use public transportation to the arena to reduce both car traffic and carbon emissions.
In addition to Vy's and #Ruter's services, we set up our own shuttle buses for major events. We only use electric buses and drive directly between the center of Oslo and the arena.
In 2029, the Fornebubanen line will be completed with two stations near Unity Arena with a direct line to central Oslo.

Energy

Unity Arena uses district heating and cooling from a local supplier for heating and cooling. District heating utilizes multiple energy sources, relieving electrical power during peak periods and freeing up electricity for other sectors, while reducing carbon emissions. The arena also utilizes 100% renewable electricity with a guarantee of origin, reducing the carbon footprint and supporting sustainable energy solutions.
